Review: RE:CIPE Slowganic Adlay Cleanser

Want to know if it destroyed my face but hate words and shit? Click here for TL;DR!

I purchased the RE:CIPE Slowganic Adlay cleanser from Tester Korea at the same time as the Rose Petal Cleansing Oil which I reviewed here. I have heard nothing but love for the Slowganic cleanser which has taken on a bit of a cult status due to the unique marshmallow-like texture and PH of 5.5. Personally I don't trust the PH of a cleanser when the marketing department are the people responsible for the claim. Instead I tend to go by this document on the Korean Beauty subreddit which has been collated by real people. Am I saying marketers aren't real people? Damn fucking right I am and I should know; I've been in Marketing all my working life.

When I saw this cleanser was heavily discounted from the quite frankly absurd RRP of 40,000 on Tester Korea I decided it was high time to try it. Having only found reviews of the Lemon and Green Tea options and none for the Adlay which is aimed at dry skin (my skin type in Winter) I did what any sane person would do and immediately ordered the unknown unreviewed quantity. In hindsight that decision was more than questionable...

Kitty Covets - January 2016 Makeup Wishlist

I'm going to be honest and make it known right from the start: the Kitty Covets posts aren't actually for you dear reader, they're for me. You see at the ripe old age of :cough: 27 :cough: I can no longer remember all the things I intend to buy in the near future because I've become a greedy little bugger who wants to buy all the things. I thought I'd collate my greed wishlist by month because otherwise it would be about 30 items long - ain't nobody got time for dat! So without further ado here is January's wishlist!

1 YSL Touche Éclat Le Teint Radiance Awakening Foundation $58
I'm pretty behind the times when it comes to Western foundation because I've spent the last two years hoarding discovering Korean BB creams. I realised last year when I had a rare evening of leaving the house planned that I didn't actually own anything that could provide medium to full coverage with no danger of flashback (a side effect of high SPF in BB creams). I power walked to my local department store (which is dangerously close to my house, just one mile in fact so it's a miracle I'm not destitute), marched up to the YSL counter and shouted "Paint me, bitch!" OK so I didn't actually say that but now I'm telling the story we can totally apply artistic license to liven it up. The sales assistant was surprisingly but refreshingly super friendly and gave me a pretty sizable sample of Le Teint Touche Éclat which I'm still using months later like the tightwad that I am. Just as I planned to purchase the full size I discovered a new reformulated version of that foundation is going to release this year! So I'll be going back soon to try out the reformulated version and thus embark on the inner turmoil train of which do I buy.

Product description taken from Sephora:
Touche Éclat Le Teint Radiance Awakening Foundation is enriched with stimulating Ruscus Extract, an anti-fatigue formula that energizes skin by stimulating micro-circulation and targeting dullness to instantly improve the look your skin’s brightness and luminosity, while the Vitamin E protects against free radicals. Formulated with SPF 22 to provide sun protection, it leaves a weightless finish while offering eight hours of a refreshed, radiant look.

Review: RE:CIPE Rose Petal Cleansing Oil

Are you a TL;DR sort? Well I've got you covered! Click here for TL;DR Summary

Now we've bumped the millennials to the end of the post I welcome the grown ups to come on in, make yourself comfy, pour a cup of tea/wine/Stoli and let us talk cleansers.

There's nothing more daunting than trying a new cleanser for the first time so I decided in my infinite wisdom to try not one but TWO new cleansers in my regimen because, fuck it. They are both from the popular Korean brand RE:CIPE, the infamous Slowganic cleanser famed for its unique marshmallow like texture (review to follow) and the Rose Petal Cleansing Oil with beautiful rose petals suspended in the bottle.

I haven't had a great deal of luck finding a Korean cleanser that is delicate enough for my super sensitive combination skin but having read so much about these two cleansers and seeing them on offer from Tester Korea I felt like throwing caution to the wind. My current cleanser is Emma Hardie moringa balm which is hands down my favourite cleanser of all time bar none holy grail etc etc and I use it as both my first step cleanser to remove sunscreen and makeup and then a second time (with fresh water of course because I'm not a bloody barbarian) where I spend a few minutes rubbing the balm into my bare skin like a mini facial before removing with warm but not hot water. Now, if it wasn't for the £35 price tag and the fact that I'm currently inbetween jobs I would most probably stick with the EH Moringa Balm and never deviate but until I'm back in work I need to find something more economically justifiable. So in comes the RE:CIPE Rose Petal Cleansing Oil!

Memebox Superfoods Review

This was one of my first purchases from Memebox back in Summer 2014 and yet I only got around to cracking it open and using everything in October 2014. I almost didn't order the box at all but it came in a value set with something else, I think it might have been the best Meme decision I ever made.

Memebox Blackheads No More Unboxing and Review

First of all if you haven't seen the YouTube video I made when I received this box it's probably a good place to start. Or not, whatever. I'll only a cry a little bit if you refuse to watch it.

So I thought I would revisit this box in writing now that I have tried everything in it. Bit more useful than "Oh that smells like.... wait... I had something for this....."

You Made Me Do This

Welcome everybody to my new blog!

If you don't like it you've only got yourselves to blame, you demanded it until I couldn't take it any longer and just cracked under the pressure. That being said please do remember to subscribe, follow, comment and all that shit.

I'll be mostly talking about Memeboxes but you never know I might occasionally go batshit crazy and talk about a single product or a different beauty box altogether.

So bow down bitches, the Queen of Fucking Everything just arrived!
